Talk on Childhood Resilience

On 4 May 2010 Margo (together with two other speakers) gave a presentation to Department of Child Protection staff, agency staff and foster parents. The theme of the talk was childhood resilience, what contributes to it and how to nurture it. The event was organized by the Midland Office of DCP. It provided a terrific opportunity for three people who had been in care as children to share their stories and later there was an opportunity for questions and sharing. It was a moving occasion. The speakers realized that we don’t often have the chance to hear from others who lived in care and there were positive comments from the audience Feedback from one participant:

Thank you again so much for speaking yesterday - it was inspiring to hear
your story and I always find it useful to reflect on a child's experience
of out of home care. I walked away feeling a lot better about what we do
now for children and even more passionate in my work to keep siblings
together wherever possible.
